Abstract

Anterior knee pain is a common presenting complaint, and the exact cause is still poorly understood. In these circumstances it is commonly known as patellofermoal pain syndrome or anterior knee pain syndrome. Multiple possible etiologies exist that can cause anterior knee pain and it is unclear to the health care professional treating these patients
which is the best treatment to offer. Treatment depends on the underlying cause of anterior knee pain and should be directed to the cause rather than to the results. The management for this condition is most commonly non-operative such as physiotherapy, stretching, pharmacotherapy and combinations of the aboves. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of etiologies and proper treatments can ensure to get successful clinical outcomes.
